Believe it or not Stephen is away from home this week…no he is not at respite. Instead he is at church camp! It was a weekend of milestones.
First on Friday I decided that Stephen was ready for a sleepover. This is the first one he has ever had. The boy he invited over is a kid from his class that lives in Barling. He is a very mild mannered kid. I really can’t find any reasons that he would be in Stephen’s class (emotionally disturbed). When I told Stephen it was okay, he was sooo excited. The only problem we had was the boys being wound up and not going to sleep which is a very normal pre=teen behavior. Yippe!
The next milestone was a very last minute decision to send him to church camp. We didn’t decide until we were sitting in our Sunday Morning service. After church we scrambled to get his bag packed and then drove him to Rogers to Green Valley Bible Camp. Two dozen kids from our church were going along with about 100 other kids from across the area. This is the same camp Mark grew up attending. Stephen has been away from home several times because of respite so I don’t think he’ll be homesick. The test will be if he can manage his behavior. There will be a lot of decisions he will have to make while facing peer pressure. I know he can do it successfully. Let’s just hope he lives up to his potential.
I’ll keep you updated as the week progresses.
Love, KIm
